It seems there is no "wannabe:writer" selection for those who aren't really poets or novelists. I'm aspiring to be a wannabe of both categories.
I wrote what could have been a novel at the age of fifteen. Because of ranging hormones, and the angst that comes with this precarious age, I deleted what was a fifty page, single-spaced story out of feelings of self-worthlessness and rage. Oh, to be small and stupid again.... it was such a Shakespearian time in life. Now I'm working on a novel again. We shall see how this adventure ends.
I've had one poem published. Granted it was in one of those Poetry.com anthologies, but it was published nonetheless. This event was a moment of more dogged pride than anything else. I in fact can now say, "I'm published"... I just have to avoid saying, "I'm published in a way that cries, 'foul play' and the poem I used was the first poem I had ever written."
It's not a very good poem.
So yea, no "Wannabe:writer". Which is what I am. I write poems, stories, and thoughts and feelings. I am not a poet, a novelist, a lyricist, or a journalist. I am a writer. I suppose I could settle for "General Writer," though it takes away from the fun of being a "wannabe".
